About Us
*******************The Wild Source*********************** Difference – Safari Synergy
*******************The Wild Source*********************** founder, Bill Given, is both a wildlife biologist and a safari entrepreneur. In creating *******************The Wild Source*********************** Bill married the two fields to work toward the ultimate shared goal of conserving wildlife. Wildlife research is rewarding and fulfills a great passion, but achieving lasting conservation from the effort comes frustratingly slow. In the safari world measurable success occurs on a daily basis. The common adage is “If it pays, it stays”. With each safari we plan, critical revenue is being earned in Africa, assigning a huge worth to conserving wildlife and large-scale wilderness areas by delivering economic benefits to local people and governments. Incredibly the result of ‘bringing’ this conservation to Africa is the immense satisfaction of seeing dreams come true for our safari clients, as they return touched so deeply by the experience. We have coined the term ‘Safari Synergy’ to encompass this phenomenon, as the parts that go into planning a special trip for you culminate in what we expect to be the most powerful travel experience of your life, providing economic rewards for local Africans, and establishing lasting wildlife conservation.
The Wildlife Biologist Advantage
We believe most people travel on safari with the primary dream to witness the superlative wildlife and spectacular natural events. The same scientific principles used to locate and study wildlife can be applied to ensure a safari provides the best chances to find certain species, observe fascinating behaviors, and experience the widest diversity possible. The wildlife biologist approach means we understand intimately how the wildlife moves through the seasons, have a keen understanding of the natural history of the various species, and can predict when and where to see the most interesting animal behaviors.
*******************The Wild Source*********************** does the same legwork as other top-traditional safari planners by having our staff accumulate months each year traveling the African continent, to ensure we keep our firsthand knowledge of the safari camps and lodges. Conducting wildlife research in both Southern and East Africa gives us a huge knowledge advantage, from both our own on the ground experience with wildlife studies and from an extensive network of wildlife research peers covering a wide-range of species and areas. It is a tight community that we (and you!) benefit from, ensuring we have the highest level of wildlife expertise for planning our safaris.
*******************The Wild Source*********************** mission is to put the focus back where we believe most safari travelers want it, on finding the best wildlife experiences and wild places. Guided by that principle we work with a diverse portfolio of options dictated only by the requirement that each location provides superior wildlife experiences and top quality operations. To be clear finding the correct style of accommodation for your customized safari is essential, but outstanding accommodation options abound. It is much more difficult to determine the locations at the correct times for optimal wildlife viewing. Having focused on the essence of the safari experience we can then tailor the right accommodation choices for your style delivering the complete safari experience that fits your needs.
In Place on Two Continents
*******************The Wild Source*********************** is a rare boutique safari operation, as we have our own offices and staff both in the USA and in Africa. We provide the full service and convenience of being based in Golden, Colorado but we also have the deeper roots with boots on the ground within Africa. We have an office in Arusha, Tanzania and currently have a staff of 20 working for *******************The Wild Source*********************** in Africa. Bill also has a research project based out of Maun, Botswana and we are working on new safari camp projects in both Botswana and Kenya extending our direct reach across the safari regions. It is a testament to the uncommon relationships we have developed through our on-the-ground presence that top local guides are requesting *******************The Wild Source*********************** to be their foundational partners as they progress to the camp ownership stage.
Give Back to Africa
*******************The Wild Source*********************** mission that our safari business results in lasting conservation requires that we go beyond planning and executing safaris. To this end we have an undertaken an extensive array of projects aimed toward wildlife research and conservation, economic development, and education. We are proud to have established a number of our own original projects, including a few firsts for the safari industry. Link to Give Back section for full details on our efforts
